Report Fraud
Stop ALL Communication with the Scammers IMMEDIATELY. Don’t interact with them any further. Make screenshots of all correspondence, print it and place it in a file for future reference.
Call your bank’s FRAUD Department… IMMEDIATELY. NOT the call centre, but the dedicated FRAUD department. Insist that they make contact with the receiving bank to tip-off the bank of the fraudulent transaction. Insist on a reference from the bank.
Take a screenshot of your phone call or attempted phone calls.
Read your bank’s terms and conditions about fraud and reporting of fraud. You did NOT pay the “wrong” account nor knew that you were paying money into a fraudsters account with a legitimate bank account in South Africa(isn’t FICA an Act?). The other bank should also investigate their “customer” for having an active transactional account for ONLY ONE reason, to defraud people and for money laundering or is their customer going to invest the fraudulent money in SA?.
Ask questions and demand answers! We can’t do it for you.
If you don’t get answers, lodge a complaint with your Bank’s resolution department, after that, Ombudsman for Banking Services. Fight this, you did nothing wrong, you are a victim of Cyber Crime/Advance Fee Fraud.

After reporting the fraud to your bank you will have to go to your nearest SAPS to open a case for CYBER FRAUD/ADVANCE FEE FRAUD specifically. Many stations ask for proof of the transaction/s such as a bank statement. We cannot find this requirement anywhere on their website nor a requirement in the criminal act for taking a statement from a victim. The website makes reference to a police official that must take down your statement and must open a case for further investigation. https://www.saps.gov.za/services/report_crime.php
We recommend that you insist on speaking with a station commander in this regard and be adamant that they must open a case for fraud by taking a victim statement or you will lodge a complaint to complaintsnodalpoint@saps.gov.za
- Report it to us! Complete our report-a-scam as soon as you receive your SAPS case number. Without it, we can’t continue what we do, warn others! Your information will be confidential and we never charge any fees for running our Facebook Group and informing the public about scams in South Africa. That is how thousands have found us in the first place, with witness statements. Your information will assist us to make connections and to connect more of these syndicates. Complete our report with as much information as possible, as if you are completing an affidavit, please. Report-a-scam
Why are these websites allowed in South Africa in the first place and why are these syndicates allowed to defraud thousands of South Africans through operating these websites? Well, you will have to ask the registry that.
